(Just another new obsession...)
Time certainly does fly when one is having fun...I can't believe how much time has passed since I last wrote here!! But there was a real sense of missing contact with friends the whole time which was a delightful realization.
To explain: our show is going wonderfully! We are currently in previews which means we are doing 8 shows a week as well as rehearsing during the day. Which might go a long way in explaining my deep exhaustion/long blog-absence. It has been so FUN to perform and we are still exploring and finding and discovering all kinds of new things, figuring out the story and how best to tell it, etcetera, which is all I can ask for. However, days would go by without me being on the computer at all, which is hard for me to believe, yet true. Coming off the show at night, I'm exhausted but wired so I'm very grateful to Myrna Loy and William Powell for relaxing me and charming me into a deep sleep on more than one occasion these past few weeks...
But here's a sweet little look into some production photos (I know some of you fashion-blog ladies were wondering about the clothes :), and here's a little interview with me where I was very exhausted and thus, searching for words which seemed never to come to me. Sigh. Also--I was on 30 Rock last night. I imagine NBC will be streaming it at some point--maybe here? It's called "Jackie Jomp-Jomp" and it's episode #318. I didn't see it but the script was hilarious (as most of them are, of course) and nobody loves Tina Fey more than me. Except my husband. Which is a total wife-approved crush...
In other news: while my life has been completely absorbed by the play, my few down moments have been spent busy-beeing at the sewing machine with my vintage patterns. Currently, I'm making the dress on the left:
This picture isn't great, but can you make out the the gathered shoulders? I loved that detail. I needed some basic spring/summer dresses and I figured I could make this one in a few different fabrics. And I also think that instead of the sash-thingy, I'm going to attempt to make an actual belt in the same fabric. Yes, grommets and everything. It will be an adventure. But I am such a sucker for matching belts for some reason.
Ooh--and here's a tip: So I'm making it in a pretty kelly green cotton, but it was crazy stiff so I looked online to see what to do about softening fabric and a few sites said to wash it a few times with a cup of white vinegar. I've done it twice and it seems to be helping. Here it is drying out, waiting for the back zipper:
I also got really inspired by this and just bought a 1960s bathing suit pattern with a matching cover-up. I'm so excited about that one...
Since things are calming down somewhat on the rehearsal end of things, I will be back soon with more sewing projects because I am so fired up about spring! I literally have 5 different vintage patterns going right now. Because I can't do anything half-way it seems....:)
