This is the first of my big Christmas/Holiday shop update. I'm so excited because I've always added to my shop in dribs and drabs but as I've mentioned, I've been on a roll and just flying so it'll be a bunch of stuff at once, with plenty of time for holiday shipping (another first for me :).
I was trying to figure out where these came from in my head, and it came to me last night. Does anybody remember Trouble Dolls?? I was utterly obsessed with them when I was little (and on into high school, frankly). They were a South American thing, I think, and it was a tiny box with tiny, tiny dolls--maybe an inch each--and the idea was that you could tell your troubles to them, put them under your pillow and they would take care of them. I just love that idea. And probably, like confession for Catholics, it just feels better to say the troubles.
So I think that, plus missing a lot of my friends, plus my love of all things tiny made me make these. A little portable friend! As a token of affection, a long-distance hug, or a little friend to tell your troubles to...
There are four, each one hand-painted, in little 2-inch boxes with a home-made sticker, lying on a tiny polka-dot pillow (making 2-inch polka-dot pillows was a highlight, I must say).
The little friends are here!
And I couldn't stop there...
Looking at my beautiful black kitties everyday has inspired me, I suppose :)
And I got to make more stickers and tiny polka-dot pillows!
There are two kitty friends, both hand-painted with a little red bow-tie and tiny felt ears. You can find them here!
But I couldn't stop there...
I allllmost bought a vintage bowling pin set at a flea market a few years ago, but I didn't. And I've never forgiven myself for it. Never. So they've been somewhere in my head ever since...and lo and behold here they are--in miniature!
(Seeing them all stacked up like that cracks me up!)
There are six 2" hand-painted little ladies in red bow ties, a black wooden ball, all inside a little 5" paper-lined carrying case...
(The little friends mini bowling set is here!)
And then I was on a roll...
These little ladies are a bit bigger--2 1/2" tall, each one different, mostly women in mens' clothing :) I think I've mentioned how much I love girls in boys' clothes...
Again--six, all hand-painted, with a 2" red bowling ball, all inside a paper-lined wooden carrying case...
I have to say, I'm secretly hoping this one doesn't sell! It would be hard to part with...but for now you can find it here...
And last but not least--sweet little Christmas gift enclosure cards...
When you're sending or giving gifts and want a cute little note instead of a big card...
Each set contains 10 cards (with rounded corners), 5 of each design, with 10 red envelopes and 10 peppermint stickers...
And these you can find here!
And there's more to come! I'm working on some original paintings, dolls and pillows, all of which I'm so excited about! My hands are sore, my fingernails are filled with paint but I love it so much :)
Be back soon! Have the most wonderful day you can imagine...
They're absolutely gorgeous! I passed up a vintage girl's bowling set the other week, and I'm still kicking myself! Would have looked perfect sitting on a little shelf...
